Koorana Child & Family Services is seeking a finance professional with strong technical expertise, strategic insight, and a collaborative approach to join our leadership team. You will play a vital role as the key financial advisor to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board, overseeing all areas of financial operations, governance, and planning.

We’re a not-for-profit delivering early intervention, education, therapy, and family support services across Sydney. As we grow, we need a steady hand to guide our financial systems, maintain compliance, and support informed decision-making at every level.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Leading the end-to-end finance function, including budgeting, forecasting, financial and management reporting, payroll, audit, and compliance
  • Supporting the Executive Leadership Team and Board with strategic planning, risk assessment, and financial modelling to guide organisational decisions
  • Ensuring strong internal controls and financial compliance, including managing reconciliations, creditors, debtors, asset registers, superannuation, taxation, and ATO reporting
  • Delivering timely and accurate monthly management reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, reforecasting)
  • Managing the preparation and lodgement of acquittals, BAS, PAYG, and other external reporting obligations
  • Overseeing the implementation and ongoing improvement of financial systems and tools to support the evolving needs of the organisation
  • Leading a small finance team with a hands-on, mentoring approach that supports continuous learning and development
  • Acting as the key contact for auditors, banks, and insurance providers
  • Participating in Board Finance Committee meetings and representing the organisation with professionalism and integrity

About the Role?

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, energetic, skilled and passionate Early Childhood Teacher to join the team as our Preschool Director (Nominated Supervisor) at our new Bass Hill Preschool opening Term 3, 2025. The Preschool will be open five days a week from 8.00am – 4.00pm. Our Preschools operate in line with the NSW Department of Education’s school terms. Children do not attend during the school holidays, this time is set aside for our early childhood education team for program reflection, in-service training and team building.

The Director holds the key functions of Nominated Supervisor, ensuring the delivery of a compliant and high-quality service. The successful candidate will guide the development and implementation of an inclusive program to ensure the successful participation of all children enrolled in the Preschool. They will need to draw on their professional skills and knowledge to provide pedagogical support and mentoring to the Educational Leader, Responsible Person/s, and the rest of the team. The Director will support their team and co-workers in delivering a wholly inclusive program.

Additionally, this position is also responsible for working collaboratively with specialist staff to ensure intervention strategies for children with additional learning needs are developed, integrated into the preschool program, and evaluated in consultation with both the family and the specialist team.

We envisage that the successful candidate will commence approx. six weeks prior to the preschool opening date (current targeted opening date is schedule for August 2025). There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to attend (paid) professional development sessions prior to their official commencement date.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA (or equivalent) with at least 5 years’ experience in a senior finance role
  • A strong understanding of accounting standards, financial governance, and compliance
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector and with MYOB, Employment Hero, and payroll systems (highly desirable)
  • A proactive, collaborative, and values-aligned leader who thrives in a dynamic environment
