Preschools

Koorana Child & Family Services provides learning opportunities for children and their families via our inclusive preschools.

What is Preschool?

Koorana Child & Family Services has two preschools, located in Lakemba and Roselands, which provide active learning environments for children of all abilities and needs.

Who is it for?

Koorana’s Preschools are for children aged 3 to 6 years whose families live or work in the Canterbury Local Government Area.

What happens and how will it help us?

Koorana’s preschool program will assist your child to develop skills that prepare them for school. In our play-based learning environment your child will build their independence, confidence, concentration, communication skills, social skills and friendships.

Qualified and experienced early childhood educators work closely with your family to develop individual and group programs that support your child’s interest, strengths and relationships.

Your child will have a specialist educator who is the main person responsible for your child’s learning program. Your child’s specialist educator will talk to you regularly and ask lots of questions about your child’s interests to help them plan the learning program. They will also make sure you know about your child’s day at preschool so you are always kept informed.

Koorana’s staff are committed to the principles of inclusion, and include children of all abilities. Specialist teachers and therapists provide support within the preschool to ensure that the specific intervention needs of children with a disability are met.

Where does Preschool take place?

Koorana’s preschools are currently at two locations in Lakemba at Roselands. Please refer to map for more information.

How long does Preschool go for?

The Preschool terms run in alignment with school terms and we are open from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm. Your child could attend for one, two or three days per week until they go to school.

What if I do not speak English?

We can arrange for an interpreter as per your needs.

What does it cost?

Daily preschool fees apply. The fees vary depending on the age of your child and whether your family holds a health care card.

Our programs and activities are structured on play-based learning that encourage children's interests, strengths and curiosity through exploration and discovery. Thinking, language and social skills develop as children question and problem solve with each other.
