All Children, All Abilities, All Possibilities

Our History

Late in 1976 a group of local women identified the need for a formal centre as a place to focus playgroup activities. This group of inspired women approached Canterbury Council and with federal funding purchased a house in Belmore, which would become the home of the new centre.

In 1987, after 10 years of successful operation and in close collaboration with Canterbury Council, the Canterbury Municipal Preschool Community Centre was formed. Later that year, the centre became an Incorporated Association and was renamed Koorana Child and Family Centre Inc. Over the years, Koorana has grown from strength to strength, constantly expanding and adapting our range of services and programs to the changing needs of our local community.
