Part Time Family Support Worker – Supported Playgroups

Come join Koorana in this exciting part time role as a Family Support Worker where you will be working in collaboration with the Supported Playgroup team, running Supported Playgroups at indoor and outdoor venues across the Bankstown and Canterbury Local Government Area.

Family Support Workers work in collaboration with an Early Childhood Educator to plan and provide supported playgroups with age-appropriate play activities that promote early learning, support parents and carers in their parenting role, and assist families to establish supportive social connections. They also assist families to make links with a wide range of community supports, including formal prior to school settings such as day care and preschool.

The successful candidate will be required to work 8.00am – 3.00pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week with an unpaid 30 min lunch break (19.5 hours per week).

What do you need to succeed?

  • Qualifications in Community Welfare or Social Work
  • Experience working with children and parents and carers in their parenting role
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritise, plan ahead, anticipate risks and problem solve
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse community
  • To be a real team player
  • Current Driver’s license
  • Current Working with Children Check, National Police Check and NDIS Worker Screen Check
  • To be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical contraindication certificate. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful
