Preschoolers and Problem Solving
Building on social and problem solving skills.
Learning occurs anywhere and everywhere and we, at Koorana, are experts at using children’s experiences in everyday activities and natural environments to enhance learning opportunities.
This picture looks like a child playing with a puzzle with his educator beside him. In addition to having fun, this boy is experiencing the learning opportunities of:
1. Building on his early learning non-verbal problem-solving skills by practicing his visual spatial abilities; and
2. Building on his social skills as he is interacting with someone whilst putting the puzzle together.
Using everyday, play-based activities to encourage learning makes the tasks more motivating and appealing for children. They get to have fun and, unknowingly, build on their skills to help them participate in their environments and communities.
