Koorana is funded to provide 10 playgroups across the Canterbury and Bankstown areas.

The Playgroups provide enjoyable learning activities for babies, toddlers and young children under school age. The children experience being part of a group, sharing toys, sharing adult attention and following a routine that includes snack times, group activities and free play times. Just as importantly, Playgroups give parents and carers an opportunity to meet and share ideas and experiences in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Each Playgroup is run by a trained Early Childhood Educator and a Family Worker. The staff plan activities for the children, lead group times, and offer information and support to families.

When there is a waiting list, priority is given to families of children who are approaching school age and have not been able to participate in other children’s services such as preschool, and families who are experiencing social isolation, economic hardship, family breakdown or other stressful circumstances.

For more information about the Playgroups, please phone the Coordinator on (02) 9758 2666.
