Manager – Family Services

Koorana Child and Family Services Inc. is a community owned organisation committed to the provision of high quality family support, early childhood education and intervention services to children and families in Sydney’s Inner West, and the Canterbury and Bankstown LGAs. Our multidisciplinary team includes Educators, Therapists, Social Workers and Psychologists.

We are looking for a full time, qualified and experienced person to manage our Family Services programs. The Manager will be responsible for the delivery and oversight of a supported playgroups program (incorporating 14 individual playgroups in separate service locations, 4 of which are delivered in local parks); Family Support through early childhood centre based and home based programs; a case management and support program for families with children aged between 0 and 18 years who have a disability, developmental delay and/or challenging behaviours; and an Early Diagnosis Support program for families who have a child under 6 years of age who have recently been diagnosed or are in the process of receiving a diagnosis of disability and/or developmental delay.

Essential:

  • A degree in Social Work OR Psychology and eligibility for membership of AASW or APA or equivalent
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven skills in management
  • Commitment to working within a family partnership model
  • Knowledge and understanding of parenting issues and the impact on family functioning
  • Knowledge and understanding of disability, developmental delay and challenging behaviours in young children
  • A flexible approach to service delivery within a culturally diverse community
  • Ability to develop and implement creative service delivery options
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A current driver’s license and own comprehensively insured vehicle

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Inner West and South West service system
  • Ability to speak a community language

Occupational Therapist Full Time

Koorana Child and Family Services provides Early Childhood Intervention Services to children and families in Sydney’s Canterbury and Bankstown LGA’S. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to work Full Time within our multidisciplinary therapy team. The O.T. will offer intervention and support within a variety of service delivery models including; individual consultation, individual and group intervention, staff, family, community consultation and training and resourcing families and centres. The position has a specific focus on supporting children with additional needs particularly those with Autism, and their families.

Essential Criteria

  • A degree in Occupational Therapy and eligibility for membership with the  Australian Association of Occupational Therapists
  • Demonstrated experience utilising a range of treatment models
  • Experience working with children and families with additional needs utilising a family centred approach. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative consultation within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and experience working with culturally diverse families and communities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • A current NSW unrestricted driver’s license and use of own comprehensively insured car.

Desirable

  • Experience developing and implementing Sensory Interventions
  • Experience in the field of Early Childhood Intervention
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of augmentative and alternative communication systems

Family Services Coordinator / Case Manager
Social Worker, Psychologist or other allied Health Professional

In response to Koorana’s significant growth in service delivery, we are excited to introduce this new position. We require a motivated Family Services Coordinator / Case Manager with case management experience who will be responsible for combining direct service delivery with the co-ordination of Family Service programs.

The role sits within our Family Support team, which provides a range of flexible and creative family services within a multi-disciplinary framework.  Family Support primarily works with families who have a child with a disability and/or developmental delay from 0-18 years old.  Families are assisted through referral and advocacy to access appropriate services, transition to school, parent/family support and education groups, case management, and early diagnosis support.

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in Social Work, Psychology, or related fields and registration with relevant professional body
  • Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in managing a caseload and case planning Strong leadership skills
  • Solid understanding of the key principles for working with children and young people with a disability and their families
  • Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of strengths based solution focused practices
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of collaborative practices with partner and government agencies, etc.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive practice and experience working with a diverse community
  • Effective Time Management skills
  • Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant government legislation
  • Ability to work proficiently utilizing Word, Excel, and other windows based software
  • Current N.SW. Drivers License and use of own comprehensively insured vehicle

Desirable

  • Working Knowledge of the Inner West, Canterbury and Bankstown LGA’S  and related services
  • The ability to speak a community language
  • Current First Aid Certificate
